Day 4: Decluttering a Boy’s Closet part 2 – More Photos

For day four of the minimalist challenge, I donated 4 clothing items from my son’s closet that he had long outgrown, and subsequently we filled an entire 20-gallon bag with more clothing he didn’t want or need, headed for the donation bin tomorrow.

I also filled a large bag with clothing items for the consignment store, and will take that bag in early next week when the school kids go back to school – it’s a bit of a drive and I don’t want to miss the remaining time with them.

My sons’ room is officially decluttered, organized, and cleaned!

A couple before and after shots of the main trouble areas in their room prior to beginning the Decluttering adventure project.

The room just needs a fresh coat of paint, new curtain, and some wall decor to be truly transformed.

One of the most rewarding things about this declutter project was watching my son’s enthusiasm about minimizing his possessions and keeping only what was important to him and letting go of the rest. He is so happy with the outcome.

His brother with whom he shares the room has always been a more natural’s minimalist with a very tidy half of the room, and this son’s area was a stark contrast that proved challenging for both of them.

They are both so happy with the outcome.

So clean and clutter-free! The wire baskets at the foot of their beds are for incoming clean clothing, which they are responsible for putting into their drawers.

Having a truly clean closet has been such a relief for my sons and a weight off my mind as this has been a long time coming.

One more before-and-after:

Whew! A very satisfying declutter adventure project complete.
